Olympic Weightlifting for CrossFitters
1 Day Seminar
Olympic Weightlifting is an integral part of CrossFit, with the classic lifts and variations frequently featuring in strength sessions and metcons. Due to the challenging nature of the lifts people often struggle to establish optimal technique, relying on impressive muscular strength instead, but missing out on maximal improvements in strength, power and metabolic conditioning. The aim of this seminar is to teach the correct performance of the classical lifts and supplementary exercises. Brief theoretical teaching will explain the rationale behind the positions adopted during various stages of the lifts and how to avoid common faults. Supplementary exercises will be used to explain and correct these technical errors. There will be plenty of lifting during the day to correct individuals’ specific faults and hopefully hit some PBs!
The seminar will be taught by Jamie Crichton and Fay Collinson. Both are Level 2 qualified weightlifting coaches under the British Weightlifting Association (BWLA). Jamie’s background is in competitive CrossFit, including qualifying for and participating in the 2009 CrossFit Games in Aromas, California. His personal bests include a 115kg snatch, 135kg clean and jerk, 150kg clean and a 2.35 Fran. Fay is a competitive weightlifter and has held a number of titles, including U23 British Champion. Her bests include a 70kg snatch and 90kg clean and jerk.
The seminar will last around 4-5 hours.
